ADI Qualifying Exam
The ADI qualifying exam is in 3 parts. From the day that you pass the Part 1 you have 2 years to pass the Part 3.
We will provide you with all the training materials required to pass all 3 the exams.
The in car training will be provided on a 1-1 basis with no other trainee in the car.
Part 1 – Theory and Hazard Perception
For this exam you will need to answer 100 questions, which will be split into four bands. The pass mark is 85% and no less that 20 out of 25 in each band.
The Hazard Perception element of this exam takes the form of 14 video clips. There is 1 developing hazard in 13 of the video clips and 2 developing hazards in 1 of the video clips. You will need to identify all 15 developing hazards as soon as possible. The pass mark for this is 57 out of a possible 75 marks
Both the theory and hazard Perception must be passed on the same day
Part 2 – Driving Test
This exam is about 1 hour in duration.
At the start of the exam you will be asked 5 vehicle safety questions.
You will need to drive at a very high standard. The exam requires that you complete 4 reverse exercises, left and right reverse, turn in the road and parking (either into a bay or parallel to the kerb), you will be asked to perform an emergency stop, move off from the side of the road, on the flat, up hill and down hill showing expert handling of the controls and taking effective observation.
You will be allowed a maximum of 6 driver faults in this exam
Part 3 – Instructional Ability Test
This exam is split into 2 phases.
Phase 1 the examiner will take on the role of either a complete beginner or a partly trained pupil.
Phase 2 the examiner will take on the role of either a trained pupil or a full licence holder requiring further training.
You need to pass both phase 1 and 2 on the same day.
